About Looping the Loop

Looping the Loop was set up by a consortia of producers based in Thanet, to create theatre and live performance which connects with local people and encourages them to watch, or participate in theatre, probably for the first time. We are proud to be a founding company in Battersea Arts Centre’s Collaborative Touring Network, which is in 2023 a partnership between eight towns and theatre promoters across the UK, led through The Old Courts in Wigan.

Looping the Loop has welcomed thousands of audience members to shows they would never have seen, in spaces they would never believe. We have supported local performers and companies to create shows they might never have conceived, in ways they might never have considered. We have  given hundreds of young people the chance to take part in arts activities they would never had the opportunity to attend. In 2021 we worked with Sortition Foundation to set up a Community Advisor Panel, to help steer us in the future and identify how to bring more new people into the theatre space.

Together with YOU, our audience, we have eaten fish and chips in church halls, danced with our daughters, beatboxed, gone to space in a caravan, built the scenery for a show during the show, become part of an operatic flashmob, lain on hospital beds wearing headphones and watched highly acclaimed national touring companies in our local community centres, church halls, empty shops, parks and the odd theatre.

We'd love you to join us at a show, take part in our activities or just get in touch soon.

Collaborative Touring Network is supported by Arts Council England and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. Our last production within the current funding will be made and toured in spring 2024. In mid 2023 we are in the process of choosing the company or artist who will receive the commission to make a new piece with and for our eight partner towns.
