Thurs 13 Nov  7- 9pm   Scratch Night

4 early-stage performances are shared with the audience and a group of industry professionals.

The Apartment by Greg Link is a contemporary song cycle written for bass-baritone and piano, set over the course of one man's tenure living in a flat. His experiences of love, loss and life are condensed into five musical vignettes.

The Endless Hotel by Weaver Line Music centres on Myra, an undervalued employee at The Endless Hotel (a place between the ordinary and dreaming worlds). She is the only one awake after a mysterious outsider puts everyone to sleep. The only way to save them is by finding an all-powerful key before the doors to dreaming close forever.

Beach Babe by Jodie Cole is dance theatre about escaping to the sea, finding love on the shores of Margate and trying not to mess it all up. Ever wonder why the British seaside is making an almighty comeback? Jodie has, so she moved there to see what all the fuss was about! In this piece Jodie asks, can the sea really heal us all?

Sweet Tender Hooligan by Motormouse Productions is a gritty new play exploring immigration, choices and surprising connections. Bo knows the tunnels and the dangers they hold. When Gadoa arrives, he's just another immigrant, another transporter for the gang's activity. But Gadoa brings his own defiance, and with it shakes up Bo's world.

The audience (YOU!) are invited to respond to the works and hear the views of the panel:  Lara Clifton (Screaming Alley), Jan Ryan (ARK Director), Mandy Hare (Creek Creative and Sally Lampitt (Applause Rural Touring).

Sat 15 Nov  6.30pm  Plebbing Up

Written and created by Curly Wordy aka Louise Hale, former community journalist and poet rooted in real voices, Plebbing Up is a spoken-word-led theatrical experiment that personifies London through its poetry, its people, its friendships and its disappearing Cockney rhythms. It's a first leap from page to stage: raw, rhythmic, and ready to be tested live.

Sat 15   Nov 8pm   The Trans Lady Sings

Two years ago, a Performance Poet, self-confessed outsider in gender and 50+ late starter in opera, challenged herself to overcome a childhood inability to sing. Alice d’Lumiere now reveals if she’s able to hold a note. Contralto? Baritone? No Limits!

Combining prose, verse, comedy and a dash of gender-fluid performance art, with original music and possibly some foolhardy attempts at the classical repertoire…
